Importance of plating industry
Industry has played a very important role in our lives since the beginning of human existence, so that in the current advanced world, it is not possible to continue life without the existence of industry. Plating is covering a surface with a thin layer of different metals so that the desired surface benefits from the properties of the metal used. This technique has many applications. Among its applications, we can mention protection against corrosion, increasing resistance to heat and wear, increasing electrical conductivity, protection against radiation, beauty, etc., which various industries benefit from these advantages.
Oil and gas industry, telecommunication industry, petrochemical industry, printing industry, home appliance industry, steel industry, agricultural industry and many other important and practical industries will suffer without the presence of electroplating industry. Therefore, the electroplating industry is called as an empowering industry. Oil and gas industry control valves are coated with electroless nickel to make them last longer; Printed circuit boards in mobile phones that are completely covered with electroplating methods or rolling steel printing rollers that are hard chromed to resist erosion. In a Boeing 747, more than 20 million parts are covered by the electroplating process.
In many productions of this industry, parts are covered by electroplating process. Plastic plating is used to chrome the lightweight but strong components that are a staple of modern cars. Considering the vast growth of various industries for millions of devices produced per year, we need billions of electroplated pieces and the importance of electroplating industry is clearly noticeable. The electroplating industry plays different roles, which vary from increasing resistance to corrosion-wear and reducing friction to increasing strength and beauty.
